A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Steinemann has a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in History. In 1970 he entered the real estate business in investment underwriting and sales. Duke subsequently became an advisor and acquisition specialist of regional shopping centers and major office buildings for Hexalon, a consortium of Dutch and English pension funds. In 1979 he formed Steinemann & Company, a full service real estate company primarily focused on development.
Steinemann & Company moved its headquarters from Atlanta, GA to Jacksonville, FL in 2000. Currently, its offices are located at Sutton Place which it developed and owns. It is also the Master Developer of World Commerce Center, RingPower Corporate Headquarter Building and Windsor Parke.
His community and professional activities include:

- Board of Trustees - Flagler College-Chairman, Finance Committee
- Past Vice Chairman/Board of Directors - City of Atlanta Economic Development Corporation
- Past Board of Directors - Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority
Duke has over 40 years of real estate ownership, brokerage, management and development experience. His building developments have won numerous awards in recognition of quality new development and restoration in Midtown/D0wntown Atlanta. Additionally, over his career Steinemann has participated in real estate transactions throughout the Southeastern United States.
Duke has also been a collector of sports cars for over forty years with a special interest in Ferrari's.
