Chris Koch

In business and at leisure Chris Koch is a heavily credentialed car guy. Graduated from Long Island University [C. W. Post College] with a degree in Business [B.S.]. Did graduate work at Adelphi and Hofstra University. Employed by Ford Motor Co. from 1966-72 in the Philadelphia Sales District [PA, NJ & DE areas]. Worked as a Zone Manager [Sales Div.]. Accepted a position from Ford Motor Co.’s largest retail customer. Rose to the position of V.P. & General Manager of this organization. Formed Chris Koch Ford, Inc. in 1976 [NJ]. Chris Koch Leasing, Inc. established shortly thereafter.Added other dealerships including Subaru, Isuzu, VW, AMC-Jeep-Eagle, Suzuki, Toyota and Hyundai. President of Eastern States Hyundai Advertising Association from 1986 to 1994 representing 13 eastern states. Served as a National Dealer Council representative for Subaru and Isuzu.

Added first dealership in PA (Chris Koch Hyundai of Leigh Valley, Inc.) in 1988. Later added the Suzuki franchise in Allentown, PA. Named “Import Dealer of the Year” (1988) by the American Imported Automobile Dealers and Sports Illustrated Magazine.

Named to Board of Trustees – Gloucester County (NJ) College. College Instructor – Business Dept. of Glassboro College (NJ), now Rowan University. Wrote syllabus and taught “Retail Sales Promotional Strategy”, an elective course for upper classmen. Presented the annual “Education Award” by Northwood College (Saginaw, MI) for contribution to education.

Sold all retail automobile dealerships to Roger Penske’s publicly owned dealership organization (U.A.G., Inc.) in 1997. Retired and moved to Florida shortly thereafter and formed a 501(c)3 foundation and built a museum to house some of our collections (Auto-Stalgia, Inc.). The collection including marques such as Packard, Duesenberg, Stearns-Knight, Cadillac, Nash, Pontiac, Mercedes, Mercury, Ford, Canadian Monarch and Buick. Collection includes several one-of-a-kind of “one-off” examples such as Edsel Ford’s 1934 Luxus Cabriolet. Many have won several “Best In Class” or Corporate Awards at the nation’s top Concours such as Amelia Island and Pebble Beach.
*Collector” with national standing in various areas including American Barber Shop, Diner, Commercial Bus Transportation and advertising.

Awarded the 2011 “Philanthropy Award” from the Jackson Laboratory non-profit cancer research center. Member of Jackson Labs National Council, Society for Discovery and Diamond Level member of the Jackson Society. Member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Vincent’s Healthcare Foundation.
Member of several car clubs including AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America), Classic Car Club of America, Packard Club, Pontiac Oakland International, Cadillac-LaSalle Club, Inc., Buick Club of America, Early Ford V-8 Club and Early Ford V-8 Foundation, National Woodie Club and the Horseless Carriage Club of America.

Chris is also an Accredited Judge” certification from the Classic Car Club of America. Judge for the Early Ford V-8 Club of America and the Antique Automobile Club of America. Served as Judge or Team Captain at Concours events. Writer of articles published in various enthusiast publications. Charter member of the Seal Cove Auto Museum in Seal Cove, ME. Elected to the Board of Directors of the Seal Cove Auto Museum in Maine in 2011.

Elected to the Board of Directors of the Amelia Island Concours d’ Elegance in 2012.
